Danal Blessis

 

Danal is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina USA and a 1982 graduate of Duke University with a major in civil engineering. He has over 30 years of experience in facilitation, consulting and project management within large organizations. He has been a supporter of Nunya Academy since its inception and joined its Board in 2018. Music has been a joy in Danal’s life since childhood, playing piano, singing in choirs, and performing in musical theater, and that joy continues through his involvement with Nunya Academy.

From 1995-2016, Danal lived in Hong Kong where he worked on the planning, design and implementation of new metro railway projects. He was responsible for developing a knowledge and innovation management program for the MTR Corporation, played a key role in the successful integration and operational merger of Hong Kong’s two railway companies, and strengthened corporate governance in relation to monitoring and control of major capital projects. He was lead editor of The MTR Projects Journal. 

During his time in Hong Kong, Danal served as a board member of the Hong Kong Knowledge Management Society and was President of the Duke Club of Hong Kong. 

Danal and his wife, Marcia, now reside in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. He is currently a vice president and member of the Duke Alumni Association Board of Directors.
